Students creating a product called "Glitch," who admittedly hadn’t seen the Matrix, were given design- (and life-) research marching orders. For what is a glitch but an error of illusion, revealing a more authentic identity unexpectedly—that being the very essence of our class in branding. Like vector warriors, we were cutting through misunderstanding towards understanding using points, lines, and planes, on a mission of expressing the true nature of a thing.
This is contemporary design curricula, decades after Susan Kare's Mac Classic icon smiled out at us from the RGB ether. Yet we're unflinchingly calling classes “digital publishing” as if there still exists any other way—certainly not the way publishing happened just hours before Kare’s iconic debut.
